Farewell announcement of Jinmo Park 2024. 09

 

Section 1

     I have been learning English for 6 years at the town

community center in Mok-dong.  The class named "C-class"  operates

2 hour study every Thursday with about 25 students under the

teacher, Mr. Hwang, Most of the students, my classmates, are seniot

ladies exce3pt 3-4 gentlemen.

 

     One day several month/ago (One day a few months ago?), one

of my friends asked me why(the reason) I am(was) studying English

at an old age(at the late age of) of 80, at which I could not answer

immediately.  (I could not answer immediately.) I asked the same

question to myself for several times.

 

     I met the friend again several days later.  I finally responded

to his question.  "If you ask me WHAT the purpose is or FOR WHAT

I am studying, I have no idea.  But if you ask WHY I am studying, I

have an answer.  I am studying it because it is a STUDY."

For tens of years, since the elementary school up to(untill) now, I

have been studying various subjects continuously without recognizing

specific purpose (without any specific purposes).  Only(The only)

exception was 2(3?) years in high school when I studied very hard to

enter a good university and favorite department (the department I

wanted to major in).

 

     Life itself seems to be the same. If you are asked WHY you

are living, how can you answer (또는 how would you answer)? I am

living because I was unfortunately thrown in this world by accident.

We continue (our) living without knowing the reason..Studying

Eng lish seems the same to me.

 

     Now that I was asked why or for what I was studying English,

I wonder how my classmates could respond (또는 give an answer) if

they were asked the same.  Some of them may have specific

purposes but others may study because it is study as the same

reason as mine.

 

     I respect my classmates for studying at their senior age.  They

deserve to be respected.  Sometimes, I wonder why senior men (또는

males) are rare while women are many.  Is it because females are the

ones like to study or more intelligent than males in general?  Or is it

because the teacher is a handsome young gemtleman?

 

Sectioon 2

     I am going to quit studying and leave the class for good.

There is no clear reason for it.  Recently I was absemt from the class

several times because of my health problems.  This kind of thing
may happen more in the future.  Rather than explaining the reason

of absence each time.  I decided to terminate the nstudy with one

announcement of this.  Even though I do explain my classmates and

the teacher may not be interested in the reason,

Even if I have had very rare private communication with some of

the classmates, I may miss them.

 

     As I am saying good-by, I want to ask my dear teacher, Mr.

Hwang to select this letter as a class material for one class.  Reading

tegether, correcting mistakes and refining the expressions.  A

composition of a student may be worth to be reviewed together and

commented.  While doing those, they will notice that Jinmo Park is

leaving.
