피터           잭, 왜 이리 우울해 보여? 잭             안녕, 피터. 직업을 바꾸어 볼까 생각 중이야. 내가 정말 뭘 잘하는지 아는 것이 참 어려워. 이런 생각해 본 적 있어? 피터           그런 생각 안 해 본 사람이 어디 있겠어? 완벽한 직업이란 없어. 뭘 좋아하고 잘하는지는 일하면서 경력을 쌓으면서 찾아가는 거지. 잭             지금 하고 있는 일에 대해 좀 말해 줄 수 있겠어? 피터           그럼 어떤 점이 궁금한데? 잭             먼저, 어떤 걸 책임지고 있어? 피터           컴퓨터 엔지니어로서 시스템 운영과 사내 프로그래밍을 담당하지. 잭             매일 규칙적으로 겪는 어려움은 뭐야 피터           항상 소소한 시스템 결함들이 많지. 잭             보고서도 작성해야 하나? 피터           아니, 그냥 모든 것이 제대로 진행되고 있는지만 확인하면 되는 정도야. 잭             회의에 참석하기도 해? 피터           그럼, 월말에 조직 회의에 참석해. 잭             피터, 정보를 줘서 고마워, 넌 회사일을 즐기고 있는 것 같아. 피터           그렇지, 그런데 이따금 스트레스도 받아!

Peter         Hey, Jack. What’s got you so down? Jack          Hi, Peter. Well. I am thinking about a major career change. It’s just so hard to figure out what I am really good at, you know. Do you feel this way sometimes? Peter         Who doesn’t? No job is perfect. You figure out what you like and what you are good at and do your best as you work to build a career out of it. Jack          Can you tell me a little bit about your current job? Peter         Certainly. What would you like to know? Jack          First of all, what do your responsibilities include? Peter         As a computer engineer, I’m responsible for systems administration and in-house programming. Jack          What sort of problems do you deal with on a day-to-day basis? Peter         Oh, there are always a lot of small system glitches. Jack          Do you have to produce any reports? Peter         No, I just have to make sure that everything is in good working order. Jack          Do you ever attend meetings? Peter         Yes, I attend organizational meetings at the end of the month. Jack          Thanks for the information, Peter. It sounds like you enjoy your work. Peter         Yes, but it’s stressful at times too!
