Business has just begun to pick up at Bixon Corporation. The first three years proved to be very touch in the export market. During that time, we lost many jobs and many employees were let go. Also, for the last two years a salary freeze has been instituted. Though Bixon’s competitive prices are beginning to win back a share of the market, the Board of Directors wants to keep salaries low to maintain their competitive edge. However, their is growing pressure from the workforce for salary increases. They can see that business is picking up and they have had to tighten their belts for long enough. The Production Director would like to reward some of his staff for being very flexible over the last few years. They have either worked long hours without claiming overtime or during some periods of low demand, have agreed to work short weeks to reduce their earnings.

빅슨 사의 사업은 막 회복되었습니다. 처음 3년간은 수출 시장에서 고전을 면치 못했습니다. 이 기간 동안 많은 일자리와 직원들을 잃었고, 지난 2년간은 급여를 동결했습니다. 빅슨 사의 가격 경쟁력이 시장 점유율을 회복하기 시작했으나, 이사회는 경쟁력을 유지하기 위해 급여를 낮게 유지하고자 합니다. 그러나 직원들로부터 급여 인상을 주장하는 압력이 증가하고 있습니다. 사업이 다시 활성화되고 있는 것이 보이기도 하고, 직원들도 상당 기간 허리띠를 졸라매야 했었지요. 생산부 이사는 일부 직원들에게 지난 몇 년간 굉장히 열심히 일해 준 것에 대해 보상을 하고자 합니다. 직원들은 야근 수당 없이 장시간 동안 근무하거나 수요가 적은 기간에는 수당을 줄이는 조건으로 근무일을 줄이는 것에 협조하기도 했지요.
