모임에서 어떤 부부들이 아내의 존댓말에 대해 고개를 갸웃거리면 “우리 집사람은 원래 그래! 존댓말이 편한가 봐!” 그냥 뜻 없이 대답해주곤 했죠. 그런 아내가 언젠가부터 기이한 행동을 보입니다. 사기로 된 공기에 밥을 퍼 담을 때마다 그릇 가장자리를 쓰다듬습니다.

When we meet other couples, they often wonder why my wife uses such polite expressions when speaking to me. I just say, “My wife does so by nature! Using polite expressions toward me seems to come natural!”   Sometimes my wife behaves strangely. Whenever she scoops out boiled rice and puts it in a porcelain rice bowl, she strokes the edge of a bowl.
