Are Job Hoppers Happy after Move? < Reasons for Regretting Job Change > Not much better than previous job : 32% Actual firm not as good as its reputation : 21% New company didn’t keep its promise : 19% [Source : Jobkorea] New surveys found that nearly 70 percent of young corporate employees have considered changing jobs, but a vast majority of those who actually move to a new company regret it later. In a survey of 1,557 employees who changed their jobs, a whopping 82 percent said they have regretted their move. Reasons include that the new job is not any better than their old one, the new company is not as good as its reputation, and the new company didn’t keep its promise of higher salaries and promotions. Many of those that change jobs and move to another company start out with hopes and expectations. Later many of them come to realize that the new job isn’t quite as good as what they had expected. They can attribute their disappointed to the old saying that “the grass is always greener on the other side.” (Survey result from an article on Korea Times May 18, 2008 & Job Korea) |
